30-Year-Old Man Arrested For Pretending To Be A Policeman

A 30-year-old blacksmith, Pius Itodo, was Tuesday arraigned before a Lagos Magistrate’s Court, sitting in Ikeja, for allegedly presenting himself as a police officer.
Itodo, who was docked before Magistrate Akinde, is facing a count charge of impersonation.
The prosecutor, Inspector Chinalu Uwadione, said the defendant committed the offence on Monday, July 8, at about 11am, at the Computer Village, Ikeja.
He said the accused falsely presented himself to be a police officer with a fake police identification card.
According to the prosecutor, the offence committed is punishable under section 78 (b) of the Criminal Law No ii Vol 44, laws of Lagos State of Nigeria 2011.
Earlier when the charge was read to the defendant, who resides at Ijora Badia, he pleaded not guilty.
However, Magistrate Akinde granted him bail in the sum of N100,000 with two responsible sureties in like sum and adjourned the matter to August 28, 2013.
